Description
No. 26 Galgate is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century, with a shop front added in the late 20th century. The building is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, topped with a roof of stone slates and featuring a brick chimney. It has two storeys and a two-window range. The ground floor features a full-width shop front with plate-glass windows and a recessed glazed door, which is sheltered by a folding canopy on hinged iron stays. Above this is a large full-width shop fascia. The first floor has plain stone surrounds around paired plain sashes on the left and a 4-pane sash on the right. The eaves have a gutter cornice, and the low-pitched roof has a brick chimney at the left end. The interior has not been inspected.
