Description

No. 3 Joy Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. The front is rendered over rubble walling, and it has a slate roof with an end stack. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. The shop front was added in the late 20th century, featuring a 20th-century panelled door with a plain fanlight set in a recessed arched opening. The windows include 8/8-pane sashes above 8/12-pane sashes, and there is a plat band beneath a cast-iron gutter. Inside, the property is noted for its panelled doors set in moulded architraves, a fireplace in the rear first-floor room that is of an earlier 18th-century type, and an open-well staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail.
