Description
10 and 12 Market Street are two shops dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of painted brick in an English garden-wall bond and feature a coped left gable with a shaped kneeler and brick end stacks, topped by a pantile roof. They are two stories high with an attic and have a three-window front.
On the right, No. 10 has a half-glazed and panelled door with a blocked overlight, and an early 19th-century canted oriel shop window with small-pane glazing, set over a painted brick riser. On the left, No. 12 features a pilaster and cornice shop front with a glazed door and overlight, along with a four-light shop window that has moulded glazing bars. Between the shop fronts, there is a four-panel passage door beneath a blocked overlight. The first-floor windows are single-pane sashes with painted sills and painted wedge lintels. In the attic, there are two flat dormers with two-light large-pane sliding sashes.
