Description
Brackenbury Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1696, constructed in two phases with 19th and 20th century alterations. It is built of rendered rubble with painted stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. The gable end faces the street.
The entrance front has two storeys and five bays. The central entrance features a 19th century gabled porch with a moulded surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "CEI 1696". On the left side of the ground floor, there is a former two-light double chamfered window with the mullion missing, and a previously four-light double chamfered mullioned window that now only has the central mullion remaining. This section also includes six-pane sash windows and a continuous hoodmould. To the right of the entrance, there is a straight joint in the facade. A large two-light window with a hoodmould likely indicates the position of a former entrance, alongside a right-hand round arched chamfered window with a 15-pane fixed light. An early 20th century entrance has been inserted, featuring an early 20th century door and a slate hood.
On the upper floor, there are several former two-light chamfered windows, with missing mullions and lowered sills. These include a round arched chamfered window and a wide two-light window that partly reuses a chamfered surround. The upper floor also features 20th century casements and sashes without glazing bars. There are stacks on both the left and right sides of the former gable. The left-hand return to the street contains one former two-light chamfered window with missing mullions on each storey. The interior is not accessible.
