Description

INGLETON SD 77 NW 6/3 Souther Scales Farmhouse - - II Farmhouse. Dated 1765 with C19 and C20 alterations and late C17 origins. Slobbered squared rubble, painted stone dressings, stone slate roof. Formerly central staircase plan. 2 storeys, formerly double fronted, with C19 right-hand bay. Entrance left of centre within gabled porch; plain surround to entrance with c1980 plank door. Datestone in gable inscribed: M R: M: 1765 above a floral motif. Left-hand ground floor 3-light flat faced mullioned window. Right-hand ground floor former 2-light window, all lowered c1960 and mullion removed to form French window; c1960 single light window and far right-hand c1960 entrance. Left-hand and right of centre upper floor former 2-light mullioned windows, mullions now missing; far right-hand c1960 window; C20 casements. Left-hand gable-end corbelled ridge stack with base of C17 stack surviving; right of centre ridge stack at former right-hand gable. Rear includes upper floor former 2-light chamfered mullioned window, mullion now missing. Interior includes 4 upper floor 4-panel doors and two ground-floor 6 panel doors; some H hinges.
