Description

This milestone, dating from the late 19th century, features a painted cast iron plate that is bolted onto a millstone grit back plate. The inscription reads: "LANCASTER & RICHMOND ROAD, INGLETON INGLETON HAWES 5 1/4 MILES 11 MILES LANCASTER RICHMOND 23 MILES 35 MILES."
