Description
Chapel House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid 18th century and the 20th century. It is built of squared rubble with painted stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and was originally one bay, but was extended to the left in the 18th century, resulting in a double fronted appearance. The 18th-century entrance is located against the former left-hand gable end wall and features plain jambs on square bases, moulded capitals, and a flat arched lintel. On the ground floor, there are three-light flat faced mullioned windows on both the left and right sides. The upper floor has two late 17th-century two-light chamfered mullioned windows, along with some 20th-century alterations. The gable end has ridge stacks, and there is a 20th-century lean-to on the left side, which includes a repositioned lintel inscribed with "D 1701. W F".
