Description
Bridge Cottage is a cottage dated 1672, with alterations from the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of limewashed rubble with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. The left-hand block is two storeys high and has two bays, while the right-hand wing, which is set back from the road, has one bay. The entrance is located to the left of the centre and features a slate lintel and a plank door. In the centre of the ground floor, there is a small single-light window with a chamfered surround, likely a former fire-window. To the left, there is a low ground floor window with a slate sill, and to the right, a 20th-century window. On the upper floor, there are two former two-light chamfered mullioned windows, although the mullions are now missing. All upper floor windows have 20th-century casements. The gable-end ridge stack is located on the left-hand block. The right-hand wing has a central entrance with a moulded surround and a decorated lintel that is dated and inscribed: P I M. There is also a ridge stack at the right-hand gable end. The right-hand return features early 18th-century windows on each floor, which have moulded surrounds and 20th-century casements.
