Description
Well Farmhouse and the attached barn are located on Clifton Lane and date from 1641 and 1874, respectively. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared gritstone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two bays, while the barn consists of three bays. Both the house and barn have quoins on the left side.
The farmhouse has a 20th-century glazed door on the right, with chamfered quoined jambs and a shallow triangular head. Above the door is a stone plaque inscribed with "1641." The ground floor has recessed chamfered mullion windows, with three lights to the left and two lights to the right, which originally had four lights. The first floor features two 18th-century windows with three lights, showcasing flat-faced mullions. The farmhouse has banded end stacks.
The barn has a central cambered arch that originally served as a cart entrance but is now a window, with the keystone marked "T C W." There is a first-floor pitching eye to the left, while the right bay is obscured by a 20th-century lean-to that is not of special interest.
