Description

Congreave Farmhouse and the attached barns date from the mid-18th century, with some 19th-century alterations and additional barns from the 19th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared gritstone, with gritstone dressings, some of which are painted, and feature quoins. The farmhouse and the adjacent outbuilding have stone slate roofs, while a further outbuilding has a slate roof.

The farmhouse has stone gable end stacks and moulded stone coped gables with kneelers. It is two storeys high and has a two-bay layout, with a lower two-bay barn to the east and a further single-storey three-bay barn attached beyond. The farmhouse includes a central 19th-century stone porch with a shallow pediment above and a panelled door. Inside, there is a flush 18th-century doorcase. On either side of the porch, there are recessed three-light square-sectioned mullion windows, and above these, there are two similar windows. All the windows have three-pane fixed lights or casements.

To the west, there is a roughcast lean-to with a 20th-century window. The barn to the east features a four quoined doorcase with stable doors of varying heights, and between the easternmost doors, there is a flush window. Above this, there are two flush hayloft doors. Attached to the east is a lower barn with three quoined doorcases; the central one has a door, while the other two are blocked and have 20th-century windows.
