Description
Pilhough Farmhouse, along with an attached cottage and barn, dates from the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins on the farmhouse. They feature a plain tile roof with stone gable ends and ridge stacks, as well as stone coped gables with moulded kneelers on the cottage and barn.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-bay central section, with a single-bay cottage to the south and a two-bay barn to the north. The farmhouse includes a central doorcase with flush quoining and a panelled door, flanked by a three-light flush mullion window with plain sashes to the south and a similar two-light window to the north. On the upper floor, there are similar windows arranged in the same way, with a central single light window in between.
The attached cottage to the south features a plank door in a flush surround to the north, along with a two-light flush mullion window to the south. There is a similar window above, both having four-pane casements. To the north of the farmhouse, the attached barn has a flush quoined doorcase with a plank door and flush windows on either side. Above, there are two small flush hayloft openings.
