Description

Toll Cottage is a toll cottage built by the Nottingham and Newhaven Turnpike Trust in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and flush quoins, topped with a stone slate roof featuring a central ridge stack. The gables are stone coped and have moulded kneelers. This single-storey building has a two-bay south elevation that includes two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullioned windows with triangular headed lights. The original doorway was likely located between these windows. The gable ends also feature similar 3-light windows. To the west, there is a porch with a Tudor arched doorway on the south side, which includes a studded door. There is a later outshot to the north.
