Description

PARISH OF ROWSLEY BAKEWELL ROAD SK 26 NE 5/173 (North Side) Toll Cottage GV II Toll cottage built by the Nottingham and Newhaven Turnpike Trust. Early C19. Coursed squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and flush quoins. Stone slate roof with central ridge stack. Stone coped gables with moulded kneelers. Single storey. Two bay south elevation has two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullioned windows with triangular headed lights. The original doorway was probably between them. The gable ends have similar 3-light windows. To the west a porch with Tudor arched doorway to south with studded door. Later outshot to north.
