Description

The drinking fountain, located southwest of the Peacock Hotel, dates from 1841 and is made of sandstone ashlar. It features a half-domed alcove with vermiculated rustication surrounding the arch. Inside the alcove, there is a moulded oval trough and a cast iron lion's head that serves as the tap. This fountain is included in the listing for its group value context.
