Description

Weston Grange is a house dating from the late 17th century, with additions and partial changes to the windows made in 1890. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and consists of five bays in the main block and a two-bay rear wing, with chamfered quoins on the left side.

The main entrance has a central four-panel door set within an architrave, flanked by canted bay windows. On the first floor, there are five flat-faced mullion and transom cross windows in projecting surrounds. A moulded string course runs along the first-floor level. The two added bays have two rectangular windows in stone surrounds on each floor, with a shaped kneeler and gable coping on the right side. A large stack rises from the ridge above the entrance, with banded ridge stacks on either side of the added bays.

At the rear, there is a central moulded cambered arched doorway, and the projecting wing features two cross windows on both the ground and first floors, with flat-fronted mullions on the ground floor that are chamfered above. The left return has a restored three-light recessed chamfered mullion window on the left, while the right return has a blocked doorway and window on the first floor.

Inside, the house retains 17th-century oak panelling and post and panel partitioning in the rear wing and between the second and third bays.
