Description

Sundial Farmhouse is a house dated 1637, with a mid-20th century restoration. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. It follows a lobby-entrance plan. Quoins are present. A 20th-century board door is situated in bay 2, featuring a moulded edge to the quoined jambs and lintel. Recessed chamfered mullion windows with raised lintels are found throughout, with 5, 3, and 3 lights on the ground floor and 3, 1, 3, and 3 lights above. The house has gable copings. A large square sundial is built upon the left kneeler, currently obscured by ivy. A shaped kneeler is visible to the right, and a large banded ridge stack sits above the door and to the right. Inside, a central rear door within the 20th-century kitchen has chamfered, quoined jambs and a lintel inscribed "TC 1637". A blocked first-floor door is located to the right. In bay 3, a large fireplace is present with an ovolo-moulded surround and a cambered arch.
