Dwellings and farm outbuildings, one now with shop. Late C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Possibly by John Carr for William Fawkes. Coursed gritstone and ashlar, graduated stone slate roof. U-shaped plan around courtyard. North range: 3-storey, 2-bay central block springs slightly forward of 2-storey side ranges. Quoins. Central block: Venetian window to ground floor in an arched recess with projecting band at lintel level. 2 round-headed windows with sashes with glazing bars to first and second floors, with projecting impost bands. Small, central, blind round-arched opening between first and second floors; blind lunette with architrave and double keystone between second-floor windows. Eaves cornice, pyramidal roof surmounted by stone-arched cupola with ball-finial. 2-storey flanking ranges composed of barn-door and C20 windows (left) and 2 C19 houses, one having original 4-panel door, with tall 4-pane sashes (right). West range has 2 pairs of carriage arches, now blocked and housing 3 cottages with C20 doors and 20-pane sash windows or 4-pane casements. East range contains shop premises in south end. Ridge stacks above domestic parts of each range: 3 on west side, 5 on east.
