Description
The gates and gate-piers at Farnley Lodge, leading to Farnley Hall, date from the 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar stone and feature wrought-iron gates. There are two pairs of gate-piers and four gates in total. The inner and outer pairs of gate-piers have a square section and stand approximately 3 metres high. The outer piers exhibit chamfered rustication and have pyramid finials, while the inner piers are topped with ball finials. The outer pair of gates consists of single leaves with bars and dog bars, which include roundels at the lock-rail. The inner pair features double leaves, styled similarly to the outer pair, but with fleur de lis finials on the dog bars and bars.
