Description
Castle Howard Estate Yard Office and joiner's shop is an early 19th-century building made of hammer-dressed sandstone with a Welsh slate roof. It has an L-shaped layout, with a single-storey office on the left and a two-storey joiner's shop on the right.
The left gable end features paired round-arched 8-pane sash windows set in keyed stone surrounds with imposts. On the left side, there is a 6-panel door with a fanlight, flanked by round-arched 8-pane sash windows, all in keyed stone surrounds with imposts. The building has gable coping and a corniced rear stack.
The joiner's shop is two storeys tall with four bays and a single-storey bay attached to the right. It has an elliptical-arched carriage entrance on the left. To the right, there is a double-leaf board door beneath a divided fanlight, along with 9-pane elliptical-arched fixed windows throughout, all in keyed stone surrounds with imposts. The shop features gable coping, shaped kneelers, and an end stack on the two-storey section.
