Description

This mile-post, located approximately 50 metres north of the Black-a-Moor public house, dates from the early 19th century and was created for the Ripon - Pateley Bridge Turnpike Trustees. Made of cast iron, it has a triangular shape with a sloping top and stands about 80 centimetres high. The top of the mile-post features the inscription 'SKIPTON 21', while the left face displays 'PATELEY 6' along with a pointing hand, and the right face shows 'RIPON 5' also with a pointing hand.
