Description
Hind House Farmhouse is a house built in the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with a two-bay main range and a one-and-a-half-story bay to the left. The corners of the house feature quoins.
The main range has a central half-glazed door from the 20th century, which is set in an eared architrave with a pulvinated frieze and a shallow moulded cornice. The windows are square, framed in plain stone surrounds, with the sills lowered. The left bay contains a half-glazed door in a stone surround with ovolo moulding to the right, and a square window with a lowered sill similar to the main range. Above, there is a small two-light window with a side-sliding sash under the eaves.
Both gables have copings and kneelers, and there is a banded stack on each gable. At the rear, there is a narrow stair window located in the center of the main range. To the left, there is an attached 19th-century outbuilding that is not of special interest. The farmhouse is similar in date and style to Woodlands in Risplith.
