Description

Hill Top Farmhouse, along with its flanking walls and west garden wall, dates from the late 18th century. The house is constructed of coursed squared gritstone, with coursed rubble at the rear, and features a 20th-century pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central entrance is a 20th-century half-glazed four-panel door set beneath a keyed lintel, with a blind recess above it. This door is flanked by 16-pane sash windows in plain stone surrounds. The gables have shaped kneelers and copings, with end stacks that are corniced.

The flanking walls each feature a blind recess with a stone surround near the house, and a board door with a keyed lintel. The door on the left is obscured by a greenhouse, while the door on the right previously provided access to a privy. The garden wall on the left is approximately 1.5 meters high, made of coursed rubble with rounded coping, and measures about 25 meters long, ramping at the southern end.

At the rear, there is a 20th-century door to the left of center within a long and short stone surround. The rear also has four square windows, with 20th-century frames on the ground floor and side-sliding sashes on the first floor. A central keyed round-arched sash window with glazing bars lights the stairs. The kneelers and copings at the rear match those at the front. There are also flanking lean-to outbuildings that may be additional structures, hidden from view by the flanking walls.
