Description

Gowbusk is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and originally comprised two bays. Quoins are present. A 20th-century door is centrally positioned, set within a chamfered quoined surround, with traces of an inscription on the lintel, and is covered by a glazed porch. The ground floor window to the left is a C20 8-pane frame set in a deepened opening. The ground floor window to the right is a 4-pane casement with a chamfered surround, and the sill has been lowered. The first floor has two square 4-pane windows; a side-sliding sash window to the left and a casement window to the right, both set within chamfered stone surrounds. The end stacks, originally present on both sides, have been reduced, with the left stack now at ridge level. A single-storey bay on the right-hand side is a later addition and is not of particular architectural interest.
