Description
This is a 19th-century milepost located approximately 30 metres west of Providence House in Green Hammerton, North Yorkshire. The milepost is made of cast iron and stone, standing about 80 centimetres high. It has a triangular shape with a rounded top. The inscriptions on the milepost indicate directions: the top reads 'Knaresborough and Green Hammerton Road Green Hammerton', the left face states 'Knaresborough 7 miles', and the right face shows 'Green Hammerton 3 miles'.
