Description

This is a 19th-century mile post located near the entrance to Tickhill Farm on Wetherby Road in Plompton. It is made of cast iron and gritstone, standing approximately 80 centimetres high. The mile post has a triangular shape with a round head. The inscriptions on the head read "Knaresboro and Wetherby Road." The left face indicates "Wetherby 5 Miles," while the right face shows "Knaresboro 2 Miles." The iron plate is secured to the stone support with two bolts through the head.
