Description

This milepost, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of a cast-iron plate attached to a gritstone block. It stands approximately one metre high and has a triangular shape with a semicircular head. The top of the milepost is inscribed with "SKIPTON & KNARESBOROUGH ROAD." The left face displays the distances to Knaresborough (8 3/4 miles) and Harrogate (6 miles), while the right face shows the distance to Skipton (16 miles).
