Description

Oldstead is a house dating from the late 17th century, with 20th-century additions and alterations. It is built of coursed squared gritstone and has a pantile roof, with gritstone slates at the eaves and stone slates on the addition. The house has two storeys and three bays, with a two-bay addition to the right. The central door features a quoined surround with a barred run-out stop to the chamfer and is enclosed by a gabled open porch that has a stone bench to the left.

The windows are recessed-chamfered mullion windows, with four lights to the left of the entrance and one and three lights to the right. On the first floor, there is a square casement window flanked by three-light recessed-chamfered mullion windows that have been reduced to two lights. An external stack is located to the right, with corniced end stacks. The two-bay addition has a board door to the right and a three-light 20th-century mullioned window to the left. Inside the house, there is a moulded stone surround to the fireplace featuring a shallow four-centred arch on the right.
