Description

This is a milepost located on the north side of Skipton Road in Felliscliffe, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features a cast-iron plate that is bolted against a gritstone block, with only 80 centimetres visible above ground level. The milepost has a triangular shape with a rounded head. The inscriptions on the head read "SKIPTON & KNARESBOROUGH ROAD FELLISCLIFFE," while the left face indicates distances to Harrogate (7 miles) and Knaresborough (9 ¾ miles), and the right face shows the distance to Skipton (15 miles). The plate is secured to the rear block with round-headed bolts.
