Description

This is a mile-post located approximately 30 metres west of Paradise in Blubberhouses, North Yorkshire. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron, mounted on a gritstone support. The mile-post stands about one metre high and has a triangular shape with a rounded head. The inscriptions on the head read "SKIPTON & KNARESBOROUGH / ROAD / TIMBLE." The left face indicates distances to Harrogate (11 miles) and Knaresborough (13½ miles), while the right face shows the distance to Skipton (11 miles).
