Description

This milepost, dating from the 19th century, is located against the north corner of Castle Farmhouse. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a rounded head, standing approximately 80 centimetres high. The inscriptions on the milepost include on the head: "Wetherby Spofforth and Knaresbro Road. Spofforth with Stockeld." The left face indicates distances to Harrogate (5 miles) and Knaresbro (4 miles), while the right face shows the distance to Wetherby (3 miles).
