Description

This is a 19th-century milepost located approximately 1 mile south of Spofforth. It is made of cast iron and gritstone, featuring a triangular shape with a rounded head and standing about 80 centimetres high. The inscriptions on the milepost include "Wetherby, Spofforth and Knaresbro Road Spofforth with Stockeld" on the head, "Wetherby 2 miles" on the left face, and "Harrogate 6 miles, Knaresbro 5 miles, Spofforth 1 mile" on the right face. The iron plate is secured to the gritstone support with two iron bolts.
