Description
Spofforth Lodge, along with its piers and railings, is a lodge building dating from the late 19th century. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a Westmorland slate roof. The lodge has an L-shaped plan, is single-storey, and consists of two bays. It displays rusticated quoins and has a half-glazed door on the right, which is sheltered by a porch supported by a Tuscan column. To the left, there is a sash window with glazing bars, and a projecting band runs around the building at the level of the sills. The lodge has a projecting eaves cornice, a parapet, and a hipped roof with a central corniced chimney stack. The right side of the lodge features a canted bay window.
There are four square piers, two on each side of the gateway, which are approximately 4 metres high and exhibit banded rustication topped with ball finials. These piers are connected by low walls with copings and plain railings above. The entrance piers consist of iron bars with pointed capping.
