Description

These are a pair of late 19th-century houses located on the Market Place in Dalton in Furness. They are two storeys high with cellars and attics, and have a facade of scored stucco and pebble-dashed finish, topped by a graduated slate roof. Each house has two bays.

Number 1, on the left, features a part-glazed, panelled front door with a plain overlight, sheltered by a renewed gabled canopy supported on brackets. A canted bay window to the left has a projecting sill and sashes with 2:4:2 panes, all protected by a bracketed cornice. The first floor has sash windows with four panes. Other details include shaped iron gutter brackets, a gabled dormer window, a limestone end stack, and a ridge stack on the party wall.

Number 2 is similar in design, but the front door is set beneath a continuation of the bay window cornice. To the right of the door is a side passage doorway, sheltered by a basket arch.
