Description
No. 18 Market Place is a house located in Dalton in Furness, dating from the mid-18th century and altered in the early 19th century. The building is cement rendered with a roof made of composition tiles and graduated slates. It has two storeys and features two windows on the first floor, along with corner pilasters. To the left, there is a six-panel door that has a concrete hood supported by shaped stone brackets. To the right, there is a large 20th-century casement window with a projecting stone sill and a raised surround. On the first floor, there are 12-pane sash windows set in raised surrounds. The eaves have a decorative band and four shaped gutter blocks, and there is a limestone stack at the end on the right side. At the rear, there is a tall stair window featuring Gothick glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected, but the deeds indicate that the property may have originated around 1730.
