Description
No. 16 Market Place is a house from the late 18th century that has been altered. It features ruled stucco over stone and a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and three windows on the first floor. The central doorway has a part-glazed door set in a wooden architrave, which is topped with a cornice supported by consoles. To the right of the doorway, there are two 16-pane sash windows, and to the left, there is a 4-pane sash window, all with projecting stone sills and thin surrounds. On the first floor, there is one 16-pane sash window and two narrower 4-pane sash windows, all treated similarly. The building has an ogee cast-iron gutter on blocks. There is a ridge stack located between the first and second bays, and a party-wall end stack on the right.
