Description

The market cross and stone benches in Dalton in Furness were built between 1869 and 1870 by Walton, replacing an earlier cross. Constructed from limestone, the structure features a four-step platform and a three-step base supporting a chamfered, square column topped with a plain cross. On the east side, there are two stone benches arranged as quadrants within a pebble pavement. These benches have slab pillars and tilted tops, and they were used for selling fish at the public market.
