Description

Castle View is a house located in Dalton in Furness, dating from the mid to late 19th century, although it has an earlier core. The exterior is roughcast and slate-hung, topped with a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys, cellars, and attics, and consists of two bays.

The doorway is positioned to the right of the centre and features a late 19th-century part-glazed panelled door set within a wooden architrave that includes consoles and a cornice. To the right of the door, there is a four-pane sash window on each floor, both with projecting sills and thin surrounds. On the left side, a two-storey canted bay window includes a cellar window, a limestone sill, and plain sashes with a single glazing bar in the upper lights at the front. The bay window also has fielded panels between the floors and a cornice. The building has yellow-brick end stacks and a slate-hung left gable.

Inside, the irregular plan and various earlier doors and latches indicate that the house has been rebuilt from an earlier structure.
