Description
Two houses, built in the early 18th century and altered in the 19th century. The houses are constructed of red sandstone rubble with flush quoins and a coved eaves cornice on a projecting boulder plinth. They have a graduated sandstone slate roof with coped gables and kneelers, and rebuilt chimney stacks made of banded red sandstone. Originally two storeys and three bays each, the houses are now divided, with Ivy Cottage (No.1) occupying the three left bays, while the third upper-floor window belongs to No.2. The panelled doors, set between windows, have painted stone surrounds. Sash windows are set in painted stone surrounds; the end windows on both floors are fire windows, with the ground floor left window having been enlarged. The left return wall features two small 18th-century windows, and two above two blocked openings.
