Description
Two houses, built in the early 19th century. The construction consists of chisel-dressed and margined sandstone with tooled ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with a roof of graduated Lakeland slate featuring stone gable copings. The houses are two storeys and three bays wide. The central pair of doors are flush and have a three-pane overlight, all within a plain stone surround. Similar surrounds are found for the tripartite sash window on the left side and the three first-floor sash windows, all of which possess fine glazing bars and projecting stone sills. A projecting square bay window, featuring four rows of five panes with three top panes that open, is topped with a deep cornice. The low-pitched roof has a moulded kneeler on the left; the right kneeler has been removed. Banded end ashlar chimneys mark the roofline. Cellar chutes are present in the first and second bays, with iron bars continuing from the first course of masonry across the pavement.
