Description
No. 45 Front Street is a house and shop, now used as a house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of chisel-dressed and margined coursed squared sandstone with tooled ashlar dressings and some quoins. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features a brick and ashlar chimney. The building has two storeys and two bays.
On the left side, there is a boarded passage door with a painted tooled plain stone surround. The number 43 on the lintel refers to a house located at the rear of No. 45. The shop in the first bay has a panelled door on the right, which includes upper glazing bars and a patterned overlight. There is a projecting square bay window with four rows of four panes, along with a continuous fascia and cornice above the window and door. The sashes have fine glazing bars, flat stone lintels, and painted stone sills on the right side and on the first floor. The low-pitched roof features a brick chimney at the right end, which has an ashlar band and coping.
