Description
No. 7 Chapel Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and was altered around 1900, with restoration completed in 1991. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a gable chimney stack on the right. The coped gable with kneelers on the left is part of No. 5, which has been reduced in height and is not included in this listing. The building has an L-plan layout, with a double-depth front range and remnants of a rear extension to the left. It stands three storeys high above a cellar and has three bays, with chamfered quoins and a plain frieze above the second-floor windows. All windows have raised plain surrounds, while the shop front is of 20th-century design, and the sash windows do not have glazing bars.
