Description

Edenhall Farmhouse is a building that originally served as the agent's house for the Edenhall Estate and is now a farmhouse. It is believed to have been constructed around 1770, as indicated by the rainwater heads marked with the initials JM, although these have been removed and retained by the owner. The farmhouse is built of dressed red sandstone with flush quoins and features a graduated greenslate roof with red sandstone chimney stacks, which have been partly reduced.

The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays with a double span. The central entrance has a panelled door and an overlight set in a quoined surround beneath a keyed lintel. Above the entrance, there is a window with an alternate-block surround and a keyed lintel topped by a pediment. The building also includes two-storey canted bay windows, each covered by hipped greenslate roofs. The right return wall has small windows positioned at various levels.

Inside, the farmhouse features a 19th-century coloured tile floor in the hall and a staircase with turned balusters. The principal rooms are adorned with 19th-century marble fireplaces.
