Description
Levy Pool Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1736, featuring the initials G & M.A on the door lintel, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a plinth and large horizontal quoins. The roof is thatched with flag eaves courses and has a steep pitch with reverse-stepped gables. The building has a two-cell plan with an original left rear outshut, likely used as a dairy. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with a later added central porch that has a pent roof. The windows have flat stone surrounds, but the mullions have been removed, leaving diagonal bar holes on both floors flanking the porch. There is a small fire window on the ground floor to the left.
Inside, there is a full-height stout masonry partition that divides the hall, which is accessed directly from the porch, from the right room, which was probably once divided into a front parlour and a rear service room. The front part has a small fireplace, while the left end wall of the main hall features a large 18th-century fireplace.
At the time of the survey, the farmhouse was empty and derelict, with the roof and ceilings collapsed and the openings blank.
