Description
New House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1733, located on Ford Lane in Goosnargh. The building has been extended and altered over time. It is primarily constructed of whitewashed brick with stone quoins, some sandstone, and features a slate roof with brick chimneys. The farmhouse has a double depth, 3-bay plan, with the first bay possibly being a later addition.
It stands two storeys tall and has a plinth made of coursed sandstone rubble, along with a band at the first floor. The central and right bays form a symmetrical unit between the chimneys on the ridge and at the right gable. The entrance features a central panelled door, which is sheltered by a stone slab porch designed in a simple classical style with a pediment. Originally, there were four vertical rectangular casement windows on each floor, but those on the ground floor have been blocked and replaced by larger single windows on either side of the porch.
On the first floor, there is a datestone inscribed 'T; I M 1753' in the center, while the left bay has one 4-pane sash window on each floor. The left gable is made of modern brick, while the right gable is constructed of watershot coursed sandstone rubble and includes a small garret window. At the rear, there are old stone mullion windows leading to the cellar and another window for the pantry. The interior has been altered.
