Description

Nos 18 and 20 Market Place is a public house, known as the Football Inn, which has been converted into shops. It dates from the late 18th century and has seen later additions and alterations. The building is constructed from slobbered rubble with quoins and features a moulded cast-iron gutter. It has a graduated slate roof with stone end chimneys and stands three storeys high with two bays. Originally, it had a galleried design. The late 19th-century shop front for no 18 includes a part-glazed door and a vertically subdivided window set within a corniced wooden surround, flanked by fluted pilasters. The shop front for no 20 is from the 20th century. Above, there are 16-pane sash windows.
