Description
Nos 23 and 25 Market Place is a shop building from the early 19th century, remodelled around 1853 by Thompson & Webster, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed, squared rubble and features a moulded cast-iron gutter supported by dentils. The building has a graduated slate roof and stone chimneys at each end. It stands three storeys high and consists of four bays. The shop front is corniced and made of wood, with panelled pilasters.
For No 23, there is a recessed part-glazed door with an arcaded window to the left. For No 25, there is also a recessed, part-glazed door, accompanied by plate-glass windows to the left. Above the entrance to the rear passage on the left, there are wreaths, and a wrought-iron grille is positioned above. The windows are sash style with glazing bars.
