Description
Nos 61 and 63 Market Place are shops that were formerly a public house and shop, dating from the late 17th century. The buildings are constructed of brick, with a rendered and colour-washed front. They feature a first-floor band and quoins above. A cornice and shallow parapet with a lighter cornice adorn the top, and the steeply pitched roof is covered with 20th-century slate. The structure has two storeys and consists of four bays, with a carriageway to the left. The shop front of No 61, dating from around 1970, replaces the former pub entrance. No 63 has a late 19th-century shop front, characterized by slender columns on each side of the window. The upper windows are squat sashes, complete with stucco cills, heads, and keystones. A single-storey 20th-century extension at the rear is not included in the listing.
