Description
The Royal Oak Hotel is an 18th-century public house located on the north side of Thirsk Market Place. The building is constructed of brick, with the front rendered to give a rusticated and panelled appearance. It features a late 20th-century pantile roof and stands three storeys tall with five bays. The central entrance is framed by a wooden doorcase that includes reeded pilasters and a triangular pediment. There is a carriageway to the left of the entrance. The windows throughout the building have late glazing, and there is a Venetian window on the first floor of the east side of the two-storey wing at the rear.
