Description
Nos 13, 13A, 15, and 17 on Castlegate are houses dating from the 18th century or early 19th century, featuring 19th and 20th century shop fronts. They are constructed of brown brick and have a first floor band. The buildings have a pantile roof with a raised stone verge and a kneeler on the south gable, and they stand two storeys high. No 13 includes a 19th century shop front and doorcase with an oblong fanlight. No 17 features a 19th century doorcase with an oblong fanlight that has glazing bars, along with a sash window that also has glazing bars. On the first floor, there are a total of five cased sashes with glazing bars, except for one that has later glazing; the heads of these windows are adorned with four keystones and plain cills.
