Description

Nos 130 and 132, including the area railings to No 130, are a house and shop built in the mid-18th century on the site of the Bear and Ragged Staff Inn. The building features pebble-dashed rubble and an eaves cornice supported by dentils. It has a graduated slate roof with a stone chimney at the south end. The structure is three storeys high and has six bays in total.

No 130 has stone steps leading up to a part-glazed door set in a wooden surround, with original wrought-iron handrails that have square standards. There is a single 19th-century sash window to the right on both the ground and first floors, and an original sash window with glazing bars above the door, along with three similar sash windows on the second floor. The wrought-iron area railings, dating from the 18th century, are 1.8 meters high, with square standards that have tops that are split and curve downwards.

No 132 is symmetrical and features a 19th-century corniced wooden shop front with reeded pilasters. This shop front includes a central part-glazed door flanked by bay windows on either side, which are curved in plan. The bay window to the right has a stone plinth, while the bay window to the left has plank cellar doors below the sill. Above the shop front, there are three sash windows with glazing bars on each floor.
