Description
Two houses, now used as offices, were built around 1800 for John Davidson. They are constructed of ashlar with a hammer-dressed plinth and a first-floor sill band. The ashlar façade continues around the north-east corner, while the remainder of the north return is of coursed squared rubble. An eaves cornice, supported by dentils, runs along the top of the building. The roof is slate, with stone chimneys positioned mid-way and at the ends. The houses are three storeys high, and each has three bays. Stone steps lead up to a panelled front door with a semicircular fanlight within a stone surround on the left-hand side. Original splayed, ramped, wrought-iron handrails are present, with square standards and cast-iron urn finials at the top. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars; a narrower sash window is found on each floor in the ashlar section of the north return. A catslide roof extends over an offshoot, as part of an adjoining bay, to a tall stair window for number 134. There are two tall chimney stacks, one to the gable and one to the ridge, constructed of rubble stone. Glazing bar sashes are present on the ground and first floors overlooking a rear courtyard, which is enclosed by the service range.
